I live near the historic Victorian Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY, which often influences my work. For Lisa, I sourced unique pieces, including two rugs, one for the living room, another for the dining room and a set of mismatched dining chairs. I believe quality lies in timeless, well-crafted furniture. By thrifting, I found a set of 8 antique sturdy dining chairs for just $52, well below budget, that needed no refinishing—perfectly aged for Lisa’s vision. We also added a settee sofa as dining room seating, blending charm with functionality.
Susan is an illustrator of her own children's books, and her rising fame in Latin America for her Spanish-language stories caught the attention of NBC and Telemundo. With just seven days to prepare for their in-home interview, we pulled together a new rug, sofa, and coffee table, rented an antique gold floor lamp, and added a personal element with a Norwegian lounge chair and a large 1950s Blenko floor vase from my own collection. To enhance the space, we chose Colombian-made throw pillows, inspired by the vibrant, jungle-themed embroidery common in Latin American countries—a detail close to my heart as a Costa Rican.
